About the Event
The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce will host its December Lunch & Learn Program at 12:00 Noon, at the Piggott City Diner, Wednesday, December 4, 2019. The event will be hosted by Joe Cole. The topic for discussion will be Piggott Remembers Pearl Harbor in preparation for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day the following Saturday, December 7th.
Cole will present a lecture on the City of Piggott on December 7, 1941 and what transpired after news of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Some of the more famous personalities from Piggott, such as Ernest Hemingway, Alva Lasswell, Francis Greer, Leslie Biffle and Pearce McKennon will be discussed at the moment that they received word of the bombing as well as their later contributions in support of America’s defense. Piggott military casualties of December 7, 1941 will be addressed as well as later contributions some made in their service to their country.
The Piggott City Diner will host a great vantage point for the discussion in that the events around the historic Piggott Court Square can be readily identified from the view north from the Diner.
This will be a great opportunity to share and learn more about the incredible history and heritage that Piggott has to offer.
The event is free and open to the public. Participants may utilize the buffet or order from the menu.
